  1. I call something with a new head a remold too guys. Oh, on the subject of that Battle Core Optimus Prime, did you hear Nonnef mentioned it on his thread on TFW2005? He’s looking at two upgrade sets. One to turn it into a proper Ultra Magnus, and another to turn it into Thunderclash. I’m interested in both, so I may have to buy two of these figures! He also talked about some upgrade kits for the Combiner Wars Deluxes, turning them into the 1986 movie Autobots and Scourge, as well as making his own beast-mode combiners.

    • Well, as Charles and I eventually agreed on, there are definitely different degrees of remolds. Where does one draw the line between “a repaint with a new head” or “a repaint with a few remolded parts” with a full-on remold? I guess, thinking about it now, it’s really a flaw in the terminology. To me, Generations Sandstorm is a remold (a heavy one at that) of Generations Springer, but CW Slingshot is a repaint of Fireflight with a new head. Tracks into Wheeljack falls into the middle of this spectrum.

However, all these terms hinge on the figures in question using mostly the same parts, though some are shaped differently – remolded, as it were. Sandstorm includes a bunch of new engineering, but, at heart, is still the Springer figure.

At least, that’s how I interpret it.

      • I thought it came out that Sandstorm was designed first even though Springer was released first. That would make Springer the remold. 🙂

        • You are correct, but people seem to think if a toy gets released first it’s the first one designed, release order has nothing to do with design order. Also, do you call it a remold if they molded #1, then molded #2 a couple days later, then a year later released #2 and in a couple months released #1. Sounds like co-molding if they designed both versions pratically at the same time.

  2. At first I was also confused as to why Needlenose and Tracks were made siblings but it was later pointed out to me both of them have similar detailing on their forehead crests (the slitted visor looking thing) on their original toys. Similar to how brothers Minimus Ambus and Dominus Ambus from More than Meets the Eye both have mustaches.

  3. Another question for your insider source. In RiD comic Galvatron got reformatted into a earth tank alt mode. Is it possible the Titan Wars Headmaster Galvatron you mentioned is a heavy remold of Combiner Wars Leader Megatron?

  4. Hey Guys

Really enjoyed the last two shows.

The company Fans Want It has only made one item that remotely interested me and that was an upgrade for DOTM Leader Ironhide however the price point killed that interest quickly.

Short one from me this week…sitting on exciting news that you guys haven’t announced yet, and I don’t to spill the beans.

Bag of Bots: MP-21G, Last 3 Toy World throttle bots (a very long wait for those), TFCON FP Combes Robin (sorry for the confusion Darryl), Picked up an MP sunstorm and MP prowl MIB for $80 total…suddenly Sunstorm became interesting lol.

Looking forward to the next episode.

  5. Another Great Podcast Guys !!!!!

Though I want to point out a few things!!!

1 ) I am really happy they are finally bringing out another Dinobot!! He is long overdue for one!! though that can be said for a lot of figures. Dinobot has only had 3 mold used for him. The original deluxe mold was used several times for him and other characters. ( I have 3 versions of this mold now and still aim for at least 2 more ). The second was the Universe mold which was a good improvement. And then there was the Botcon mold as well which was a repaint of the Hoist mold from Armada. Which was still very nice. And as I have said several times before I would love a Masterpiece Dinobot. Which will hopefully happen sooner than later.

    2) I am also super happy about the Spark Toys Optimus. I love the Titanium line though they have their issues. ( Mostly being as small as they were and all diecast. I like the way Spark toys is doing him though I do feel he is too big. I think he is suppose to be MP Grimlock size. Which isn’t bad because he might be a nice MP War Within Optimus. I do believe they are working on the next mold in the line of Megatron which would be really cool as well.

    3) Lastly guys I would like to ask a huge favor. My youtube channel is also sponsored by Prime Toys. Any chance I can get you guys to help me by promoting my channel ALOT?? I could really use the help and all. I want / need more subscribers/ views. Any help you can offer would be wonderful. ( I should not that I promote you guys all the time , especially since I have been sponsored. Not to sound bad there. But I would really love the help !!!

Keeps up the good work guys !!!!

  6. I’ve actually come around on CW Optimus Prime. Sure, the robot mode is not the best, but I think it’s great as a truck. And it’s nice to have him as a combiner for the 4 other deluxe figures I have. Oh, and Reprolabels. Can’t say enough about how awesome they are on him.

Has Yoshi never seen a movie? Don’t you know that the more you press a deep throat source the more likely they are to disappear or end up dead? Don’t chase deep throating away… or worse! I’m kidding of course.

Great show fellas. Can’t wait until next time.

  7. Haven’t got to listen to this one yet…
The last few episodes (since TFCon) have been crashing my iPod.
Not sure if anyone else has been having this problem…

    • We haven’t heard anyone else with this problem. What kind of iPod, and if it is a touch, what app are you using?

      • It’s an iPod Touch, 2013 model. Don’t know much more, because all the info is in Chinese.
Im using the Apple podcasts app. I ended up switching to Podcast Addict on my phone

  8. Charles, I wondered about Blackrock being a facsimile just before you mentioned it, but if I remember from around “Escalation” faxes tended to be copies of existing people in strategic roles- Chechen rebels, Russian generals, US senators- rather than created from whole cloth.
If Roberts was writing I’d be tempted to think Blackrock was pulling the same trick The Master did in “Doctor Who” a few years ago.

  9. Dylan (Cowardlyzebra) Mitchell

What if movie galvatron just got super pissed that no one bought him than he shoved him self in a titan wars box and pray people wpuld buy him

  10. Boy, I sure got a lot of attention this episode! Thanks for mentioning my question at the end, though you didn’t have to. I said it wasn’t time-sensitive or anything, especially at 1:30am! When you said you were going to hold on it, I was saying “Good! It’s 1:30, go to bed!”

But thanks for the mention. 🙂

I still disagree with you on the Sky Lynx design, Charles, but I think I see where you’re coming from based on the pictures you provided. However, this is definitely a case to agree to disagree, because to really know for sure, we’re going to have to get the figure in hand. If you’re right, I will absolutely concede victory to you.

    • I think saying Sky Lynx is a “remold” of Silverbolt is like saying Jazz is a remold of Prowl. I think they made them seperately, but the same designer used a majority of the same ideas in both designs.
