wow so far so behind, but im glad to see a new ‘cast on a sleepy Friday morning @3:32 am…yawn note will be taken …
eventually…man i think ill feed the ‘beast some fit and trim notes chow its getting far too big anymore to handle …of course the palladium open house prep, trip up and the stay and back and then falling back into place with home and work has slowed me down even more…ugh life..just give me a few more hours in the day where my little “gridlet” dose not rule it…

  2. Dual Mirrored Gridwork

too darn sleepy ..”does not rule it,i need spell check in my life….more….zzzzzzzzzz

  3. Good show guys. 🙂

Anyone notice a drop in shelf space for Transformers toys in shopping centers, like Target and Walmart? I have been looking for Combiner War figures, but ever since Transformers: AoE toys were sold out a month ago the shelf space for new toys has gone away…maybe a weird coincidence.

  4. Thanks for the shout-out guys, that was awesome of you!!

Ok after work and a busy day ahead of me tomorrow, I do have this to say and it may be old hat:
It does not bother me that there are female transformers at all,I love the idea that they are there and yes arcee was not the first one,but she does seem to be the poster girl for that fact.
But what does indeed bother me is why are they “visually female” in a non gender specific race yes prime is viewed as a male for name and general shape/frame appearance,if prime had a shape of arcee and was called Optimus prime I would be good with that as well,no problemo.
HOWEVER,the whole thing with the cna and arcee being changed in the idw run does bother me a little, and I do like big cs explanation that the gender was rediscovered so it can be done so this is my explanations for it:
G1 cartoon: they were made to fill an order by the quints to a almost all female race,so they were humanoid and shaped female to look like whom they served ,ex: like the praxian warrior women in robotech 2 the sentinels
Then there is Solas prime ,who makes up the 13% of the tf race being female
Then the cna flip, that one kinda bothers me some still..
C beast said that I the past he feels it has something to do with the spark,in which I like that idea but will look into more, and a great example Star Trek The Next Generation data constructs a offspring and the offspring chooses the gender it takes on, in this case of course a female…naturally,I like it becuse there is a choice involved. Also one last example if you have 10 vehicles like kitt from Knight Rider and nine of them have a distinctive male voice and the tenth one has a distinctive female voice, why would you call the 10th one a female?
I know in the end it is a marketing thing and I agree with Charles that it has nothing to do with a boy plays with a doll or if a girl plays with a car i find gender specific toys do not make up a good character I do not care if there are female transformers in the media shows,or otherwise but when there is a sorta spotty magnifying lens spotlight on why they are around, for a lack of origin of why…. in case of arcees gender change that bothers me a little bit. If a perceived male robots exterior is stripped away and it is reformatted or reconstructed with a female exterior does that make the robot perceived formally male into female now.
Again do not misunderstand me I do like the female transformer characters I do not like the mystery behind of why they exist it’s been brought up once before with Simon Furman and then scott kind of expanded a little but in the end I would like to have some sort of satisfactory explanation …not just “hey there here”….

  6. You guys made me scramble to thoroughly inspect my Apollyon. (That’s what she said.) I’m sure you’ll be thrilled to know that mine didn’t have any of the problems described in this episode. He does have a shoulder ball joint that can’t support the weight of the arm cannon. The replacement socket that’s included should fix that. As I said on Twitter, the episode 106 title pic showing Apollyon split in two indicates that the toy was probably handled roughly. It can be put back together with no tools (only finesse) required. The transformation, while resulting in a better looking Megatron, is a pain in the nuts! MP-05’s transformation was fiddly, but didn’t result in me saying, “Screw this. You’re staying in gun mode until my soul recovers.”

Also, K-Girl gets major props! She did a great job comic book-ifying you four. I considered doing something similar, but procrastination, laziness, and my inability to complete-

Yep I agree with rd…wait a minute ..im not sure if I ment to do that. .
K girl did A FLIPPIN AWSOME job on doing the cast comic style!!!
Big ups to you k girl!!!

Sorry ment 1/13th on the Solas prime bit…pre/post fried on my Gridlets swing set on put in yesterday

  9. So you guys are saying you want me to talk about female Transformers more? Okay, here goes.

I think one of the things that makes Transformers so different from other kids lines of the time is there was NO female presence for so long. I wonder how long before we even saw a female human on the screen in a speaking roll? Were there any in the pilot? Then in the second season we get a couple non-toy female characters in a one-shot episode. Season 3 we get a female with no toy as a regular on the show. Compare that to MASK, Starriors, GoBots, Robotix or other lines where females, while less numerous, were there on day one. I think it shows you how much Hasbro execs considered Transformers entirely a boys toy in the beginning, more than any other line.

BTW – Here is the giant tire you can find in Michigan – http://inch.com/~joso/skate/tour/tour_trav_2-3_10_img/2010_03_17_det_1157_tire_aj.jpg

  10. Okay, it I did some research, it looks like episode 9 was the first episode of Transformers that features a female character of any type. We have all men in named speaking rolls from episodes 1-8. It was Luisa in Fire in the Mountain. http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Luisa

Thanks matt, but I’d still like to have an answer to the Cybertronian version’s …again I’m not opposed to them ,just would like to have an answer to how they came into being…
And as far as a strong female roles go ,elita 1,g 1 arcee and prime arcee kick tailpipe!!!

  12. How did female Cybertronians come into being? Several answers are possible depending on the origin of Transformers.

    1. If Cybertronians were manufactured good made by the Quintessons, then female came into being because they wanted to sell fembot servants to various alien races. They are a sales gimmick.

    2. If Cybertronians came into being because Primus made them, then Primus’ first Primes included Solus Prime, who was female, so the female Cybertronians were made in her image.

    3. In the GoBots and Robotix universes, which are officially parallel universes of Transformers world, GoBots and Robotix started off as organic life and were converted into cyborgs, which is why many of them are female. http://tfwiki.net/wiki/Robotix
