Victorious but battered, the heroes sift through the wreckage, claiming hard-won spoils and answers that may push them one step closer to Pythagoras—and deeper into the Doctrine’s designs.

Clinch breaks apart into a swarming mass, harrying the team from every angle, while Weldscar disappears beneath the surface of the acid pool, striking from below with brutal precision. High above it all, Sightline remains unseen, his shots coming from nowhere and everywhere at once. Pressed on all sides and running out of room to maneuver, the crew struggles to adapt to the trio’s coordinated assault. In the turning tide of the battle, one of the heroes is overwhelmed and goes down, forcing the others to choose between finishing the fight or saving one of their own.

As the truth becomes clear, the Doctrine of Steel and Synapse reveals its ambition; a covert army meant to be smuggled into Iacon itself, ready to awaken at a single command and tear the city apart from within. Doctrine cultists swarm the chamber, desperate to protect their work and complete the activation sequence. The crew must fight through the defenders, sabotage the production lines, and stop the ritualized synchronization before the bodies can be claimed by stolen minds and fractured sparks. Steel clashes, gantries collapse, and half-finished constructs twitch toward life as the team races against the clock. With alarms blaring and reinforcements prowling the halls, the team seizes control of a key security terminal—finally giving them a picture of the outpost’s layout… and the dangers still ahead. But the Doctrine of Steel and Synapse doesn’t give up its secrets easily. To advance toward the upper tiers of the facility, the squad must force their way through a fortified security room guarding access to the surface. When the doors won’t open, the crew does what they do best—makes their own. Explosions, fire, and a whole lot of steel later, the heroes brace themselves as roof access comes within reach. But what waits above Outpost Argentum may be worse than anything beneath it… Pythagoras is still out there. The Doctrine is preparing something. And time is running out.

With the Doctrine’s monitoring network now laid bare before them, Magnum, Spindrift, Rough, Tumble, Carapace, and Gumshoe begin slicing through encrypted feeds, rerouting patrol paths, and gathering intel on the cult’s inner workings. But subtlety doesn’t last. A wandering squad of Doctrine fanatics blunders into the wrong hallway at the wrong time, forcing the crew into a sudden skirmish amid the flickering lights and blaring alarms of the outpost’s interior. As they tighten their grip on the facility’s systems, the party realizes they’re finally turning the Doctrine’s own stronghold against them—one terminal at a time. Stealth, strategy, and sudden violence collide as the infiltration enters its next phase!

What is the Empire Of Rust Podcast?

TransMissions Podcast Network presents: the world’s first and only Transformers RPG actual play podcast! Conceived, developed, and run by TransMissions Podcast producer and editor Michael Ordway (@minervion), this podcast combines the tabletop role playing game (RPG) experience (think Dungeons and Dragons) with the setting, universe, and characters of the Transformers into an actual play podcast. What is the Empire Of Rust Podcast?

TransMissions Podcast Network presents: the world’s first and only Transformers RPG actual play podcast! Conceived, developed, and run by TransMissions Podcast producer and editor Michael Ordway (@minervion), this podcast combines the tabletop role playing game (RPG) experience (think Dungeons and Dragons) with the setting, universe, and characters of the Transformers into an actual play podcast. Each episode records the gaming sessions as the player characters experience the adventures planned and designed by the game master (GM). The RPG system being used is based on Starfinder, a sci-fi variant of Pathfinder, combined with elements of the Transformers-themed Mechamorphosis d20 system (more info here).

Empire of Rust takes place in the IDW Comics Transformers Universe that ran from 2005 to 2018. It is set at the beginning of the “First Strike” storyline that was published in 2017. But while the starting point is based on the events of the first issue of First Strike – where Earth is being inducted into the Cybertronian Council of Worlds – the story of Empire of Rust will be very different. So if you’ve read the comics, don’t think you know what’s going to happen!

The players have all created original Transformer characters to take part in this adventure, but they’re sure to encounter some familiar faces in their adventures on Cybertron, and beyond.
