  1. Dual Mirrored Gridwork

a 3 and a half hour podcast,AND the beast is back!!?
AND YOU GUYS are “right on my time” too!!??
aww this is gonna be REAL good!!!!
damned im tired right now and works a callin’

  2. That TFYLP episode where they talked about seeing the Titan Wars “Powermaster Optimus Prime base”, and the picture was just of the Blaster base mode.

I wonder if the scale of Titan Wars something like the range of Legends toys. The little head for Blaster is actually 20-30 feet tall, the the big Blaster is actually GIGANTIC in the fiction, hundreds of feet tall.

  3. dualmirroredgridwork

Did someone text the word “scale”?

    • I was just thinking it’s more a micro type line. If the little heads are actually full sized Cybertronian robots, and the bodies are GIGANTIC drones. Then these figures would fit a bit more closely with Titan class figures.

I am glad to see that my guess on the Powermaster Optimus Prime might be close to the truth. I think I lot of people would live a Leader class Optimus that has as many features as possible.

  4. So tell us, great Transmissions hosts, is this image one of the ones you saw for Titan Wars? I got it from China and posted it on TFW2005 this morning and it made big news. http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/1046445-titan-wars-blaster-toy-image.html

    • We saw you post that on TFW2005. Great find! Our info did not include any Blaster images. We’ve got more to discuss on the next episode, so stay tuned!

  5. Great episode, gentlemen. Darryl, welcome back. Nonnef, you gave a really good interview. The toy segment is back to form with a serious bang.

I was psyched when you guys mentioned Bonnatron’s custom parts for CW Optimus. Having known the dude for years, I was honored to be the one that broke the news to him about his work earning a mention on Transmissions.

He told me this was his reaction:

On his behalf, thanks for the exposure. You guys kick ass.

  6. Great show this week guys. Good to have Daryl back in (‘though you could have let Yoshi make him do the whole toy segement 🙂 ). Metroplex just wasn’t cutting it anymore. Nonnef was a great guest, lot of good insights and I didn’t think it was a problem the way the 3rd party section overlapped with his day job. Now about all that ‘Deep Throating’…..
That’s an amazing insight to have and the post-podcast reveal of Titan Wars Blaster gave it massive credibility. Looking forward to seeing some of that come down the pipe. The funny thing for me was the being soooo far ahead of the curve and yet due the recording schedule you had nothing about SDCC. So next week everyone else will be talking about the stuff you were teasing here and you’ll be talking about all the stuff they discussed last week. Way to buck the trends, guys!!

Great show, one of your best. Looking forward to future eps. Keep this up and I’ll have look into that modern Patreon nonsense!

PS I did try and leave an itunes review on the UK store but it doesn’t seem to shown up. Some nonsense about ‘incompatible parchment’, I’ll try again later….

  7. Just to set the record straight, old computers had no trouble handingly file names over 8 characters because of slow processors. My C64 had no problem with them. The problem was the MS-DOS file system, which was greatly inferior. Sadly MS-DOS became the business standard, so it took the place of the superion file systems.

    • Microsoft: It’s not a bug. It’s a feature.

    • Well, to get super pedantic, I don’t think we were talking about filename lengths (but of course your assessment of MS-DOS is spot on). Nonnef was talking about his username length on a dialup MUD. That was probably programmed to 8 characters or less just for memory constraints or some arbitrary reason but I don’t think it would be related to the file system. Anyway, we can all agree MS-DOS sucks. 🙂

  8. Just got to the Nonnef interview. Love the reveal of the “Shell Formers”. Hope the come in the colors of Catilla and Chainclaw, plsu maybe some cool stuff like a version colored like Battle Cat, with a inner robot colored like He-Man? I’m also interested in the Prowl Headmaster.

  9. That show was a marathon! Great as usual. We are merely days from TFcon and I’m going crazy over the SDCC IDW reveals as I’m sure you guys are as well. Another well done episode. Now back to the previous episodes. I’m up to Episode 24.

  10. Hey Guys. Wicked Episode.

First…THE BEAST IS BACK!….thank fawk! No offense to the rest they did what they could.

The interview with Nonnef was super well timed. I literally just installed his new ratchet hips on my Takara Unite Warriors Superion….yes I took the expensive one and ripped it apart. You basically cut, twist, pull, pry, break and it comes apart…then put it all back together. There was tense times let me tell you.

I can’t wait for the feet he has planned and other goodies for the combiner wars figures.

Bag of bots: Literally a massive bag of Daryl complete bots. Going to take sometime to sort it all out. Also a KO MP exhaust (yes I bought a KO…but only so I don’t have to open my original). As mentioned earlier the Takara Unit Worriers Superion.

    PS…Yoshi wins with duct tape….EPIC!

    • DUCT TAPE FOR THE WIN!!!

I think all you Transceivers missed the BEAST as much as we all did. Glad he is back. I promise to try and keep his ego in check.

Nonnef wins at life for making rubber tires we can all enjoy!

  11. dualmirroredgridwork

Keeping the beasts ego in check, hes got a bit of making up to do and the duck tape ,too good! (Thought I’m not too sure what I would use it on or for but cool none the less) I have to give it a second listen though still but it was a good ep …like I’d would listen twice to crap..good to hear you again beast, can’t wait to hear all the details on tf con from you guys ..wish I could go,perhaps in the future or next year’s tf con in north Carolina, who knows?

  12. dualmirroredgridwork

Ps,Nonneff, thanks for making Yoshi giddy like a school girl!

  13. Great episode! It’s great to have The Beast back.

Nonnef’s interview was fascinating. His whole system sounds really cool and fairly efficient (excepting the exceptions he excepted… I mean mentioned). Also sounded like a genuinely cool guy throughout the whole episode, which I think I pretty much confirmed after chatting with him a bit on Twitter about cars, which I know so very little about.

I have some semantics I’d like to discuss with you guys – particularly Charles. Now, you get off light, because you’re not the toy guy, but Daryl should get a little flak for not being on top of terminology!

First of all, I think you’re overextending your use of the terms “remold” and “retool.” Now, I’ll need some clarification on the difference myself, if there is any, but Charles. Stop. Just because Sky Lynx transforms into a jet with a box under it, just like Silverbolt, does not mean he’s a remold. You’re going to have to give this one up, buddy. I love and appreciate your tenacity, but the two are completely different figures. A “remold” of a figure is one that transforms the same (or mostly the same – example being Classics Tracks and Wheeljack) and shares most of the parts, but some parts have alterations. Silverbolt and Cyclonus are a clear example, Fireflight and Slingshot. You can make an argument for Aid Raid and Sky Dive, but I think that one’s a little cloudy because there are SO MANY totally different parts between the two of them. Then again, Mr. Vangelus predicted that these figures were designed to have easily modified parts to make “modular” toys. I don’t remember his words exactly, but we’re seeing his predictions come true. I’m starting a tangent, better stop that…

Back on topic, correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe I thought I heard someone say something about MP Ultra Magnus being a significant retool of MP-10. This is definitely not the right use for the word. The cab looks the same, but it has nothing in common with MP-10 otherwise. So while I’m cautiously optimistic for Deep Throating’s predictions to show up, when Charles called the Powermaster Optimus Prime a “significant remold of Leader Ultra Magnus,” I rolled my eyes. I have VERY high doubts about that, just because I’m not sure you recognize what a remold actually is. Still, I also haven’t seen the picture, so I could be totally wrong. It’s not like THAT hasn’t happened before!

By the way, to interject into my quote-unquote “lesson” here, this Deep Throating section is fucking awesome, and I love it. I want it to stay secretive, too! The “I’ve seen them, and they are amazing” line was probably more exciting than actual news. Expertly delivered, Sir Charles.

I know I sound like I’m giving you shit, and MAYBE I guess I am, but that’s not really my intention. I simply mean to educate. I’m certainly not perfect, and if anyone else has any input, by all means, feel free to add to or correct me!

There’s also the difference between the words “repaint,” “recolor,” and redeco,” and yuck. I don’t feel like that right now. Honestly, those ones are splitting hairs.

    • Ok Tom, let’s take your points one at a time:
“First of all, I think you’re overextending your use of the terms “remold” and “retool.” Now, I’ll need some clarification on the difference myself, if there is any, but Charles. Stop. Just because Sky Lynx transforms into a jet with a box under it, just like Silverbolt, does not mean he’s a remold. You’re going to have to give this one up, buddy. I freely admit to not being clear on the terminology, but in my opinion there is clearly a shared design between CW Silverbolt and CW Sky Lynx. If remold is not the right word, fine. But they share significant design aspects. You said yourself they both transform into a jet (shuttle) with a box under it. It’s clear to me that they started with Silverbolt’s vehicle mode and then redesigned the robot to be Sky Lynx’s lower body and legs. Then they replaced the rigid plane with an articulated fuselage that turns into the bird/dinosaur head. And look at their torso modes for Superion and Sky Reign. The arms and legs for Silverbolt are positioned the same as the legs of Sky Lynx. Call it a shared skeleton or base model, whatever, but they’re NOT completely separate designs.

      Superion:
      http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/d/d8/Generationstoy_superion.jpg

      Sky Reign:
      http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/5/52/CW-skyreign.jpg

And similarly, it looks to me like ALL the Aerialbot limbs share the same design. They all transform exactly the same, including their arm and leg modes. The only differences are color, head sculpts, and wing shapes.

“Back on topic, correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe I thought I heard someone say something about MP Ultra Magnus being a significant retool of MP-10. This is definitely not the right use for the word. The cab looks the same, but it has nothing in common with MP-10 otherwise. It’s not like THAT hasn’t happened before!”

I don’t know where you think you heard that, but no one on TransMissions thinks MP Ultra Magnus is a “remold” of MP-10. As you say, the only thing they share is the shape of the cab and nothing else. My conception of a “remold” is that both figures have the same underlying structure and transformation, but may have significant differences on their outer shell, limbs, head, etc.

We’ve seen what looks like Japanese Powermaster Prime’s G1 God Ginrai “combined mode” that combines the cab and the trailer. And to my eyes it looks very similar to the basic structure of CW Ultra Magnus’ robot mode, where the cab is the chest/torso of Ultra Magnus, just like the cab is the chest/torso of Powermaster Prime. We have not seen a vehicle mode or any evidence that the cab by itself turns into a smaller Optimus robot like the original G1 toy, and I would guess it doesn’t if it was redesigned from CW Ultra Magnus.

Imagine the CW Ultra Magnus figure:
      http://tfwiki.net/mediawiki/images2/6/60/CombinerWarsUltraMagnus.jpg

With the Ultra Magnus chest replaced with the God Ginrai “God Breast” chest, and the legs replaced with Powermaster Prime legs (but with no additional “God Legs”) :
      http://www.tfu.info/1988/Cybertron/GodGinrai/robotmode.jpg

That’s the reasoning for my opinion of “significant remold” of CW Ultra Magnus. So roll your eyes all you like, but I guess we’ll just have to wait til Hasbro releases official images or someone else leaks it for you to see that I’m right. 😉

      • OK, before you read my comment on your next feedback session, make sure you let me allow you to correct me – if no one said anything about the MP10/MP Ultra Magnus thing, that could honestly be a result of a late day at work and lots of heat/possible dehydration. I work outdoors in Texas. That’s my excuse and I’m sticking to it. 🙂 I might have heard someone say that they heard that people have said that and I just misremembered.

      • That’s my preferred term as well, but “repaint” is so common, it would be like trying to erase the “CHUG” acronym from the TFW boards.

      • This very much feels like a discussion to have around a table with a bunch of toys and a computer!

  14. dualmirroredgridwork

I never understood the word repaint, to me says it has be painted before,I tend to lean toward recolor myself It seems to fit better to me…

  15. The Return of Cybertrian Beast !!!! (sounds like a decent movie) Great to have the Beast back !!! And even better to have Nonnef as the special guest!!! Have to admit I really like his upgrades. I plan to get a good bit of them. And if Yoshi is willing I will gladly like him to join me in a review of the Rubber Tires. Will you be willing to join me Yoshi??
I have lost track of how many Upgrades there are now for the CW Dev. At least 5 to my knowledge with these 7. They are all nice gonna be hard to get them all if need be. Though I will admit I would rather have a Voyager Prowl and Scoop to work witht he Devastor now. How interested would you guys be in getting those?
I really do dig the upgrades for Prime and Megatron. Mainly the Prime really makes him look good. Though would the Shapeways upgrade also work with the Perfect Effect upgrade?
Also us Transcievers will start trying to post Pics of Our Bag of Bots from our hangouts. Let us know what you guys think!!

  16. Oh, forgot to mention that I pre-ordered a set of Nonnef’s tires. Listening to this ep really sold me on them.
