Darn that Zhong Jin! Making low cost high quality versions of Transformer Hasbro and Takara refuse to reissue so everyone can afford them! 😉 Personally I like being able to buy a Diaclone colored Swoop in box for $50 instead of $500! I think the problem with them is not that the copycat G1 toys exist, but that ebay would shut down auctions when people would sell them honestly as KOs, so the only way to sell them online would be to lie and call them “reissues”. Most sellers are incredibly honest and want the buyers to know what they are getting. Sadly I stepped on my G1 Skyhammer shell the other day and broke it into pieces! I wonder if Hasbro’s new partnership with Shapeways will result in people printing replacements of all the gold plastic parts.
I don’t think third party Guttur chrome will suffer from the problems G1 toys had, since no collector plays with his $200 Guttur the way a 5 your old kid played with G1 Snarl. The Guttur will not be playing in the sand box or bath tub, or get thrown across the room. It will sit on a collector shelf.
It has always annoyed me that people retrocon that Wheeljack built the Dinobots with simple brains on purpose to be like real dinosaurs, he said they have simple brains like real dinosaurs, not that he did that on purpose to be like real dinosaurs! Wheeljack can’t just create Transformers life, he’s a weapons designer who tried to build a whole robots on earth, and the Dinobots were the best he could do, they were simple drones with artificial intelligences. There was NEVER any indication that he made the Dinobots stupid on purpose, it even shows that he was still working on making them smarter when Optimus told him to seal them in the cave.

Of course what you really read my posts for is corrections, and I have one for you. GCreation (and it’s singular) has made toys before the combining Dinobots. They are actually an established toy company who makes third party third party Go Gai Gar robots. BTW, did you know “Shura King” is actually the name of the Star Rescue Team dinosaur combiner? Yet another great show!!! Miss Yoshi and Jeremy, though Josh and Ben do fill the void well. Was so nice to hear about Transformerland.com story. I have used that site though not as often as I should sadly. But it still a good site for all things Transformers G1.
I remember back in ’86 when the movie was on the verge of coming out hearing rumors of the Dinobots combining in it. I don’t remember where the rumor came from other that it went something like “the Dinobots get into a fight with someone or some battle, and get damaged very badly from either the fight or a explosion. And they get repaired during the move and that at the end they return fully repaired and are smarter and have the ability to combine into a combined form.” U don’t remember if the combined form was given a name or not. I do remember looking forward to it and hoping to see that happen. But as we know it didn’t happen and the Dinos weren’t in the movie for a huge amount of time plus of course Snarl was missing from most of the movie aside from a couple of scenes.

The artwork with Jazz doing a doughnut in the desert next to some guy on the road is from the Colorforms book and tape set “Sun Raid”. In it Jazz finds an aircraft mechanic by the side of the road who had been abducted by the Decepticons. I think Matthew Ignash got the audio from this story off some guy on alt.toys.transformers but I don’t know if he ever put it on YouTube.
The art is by the same guy who did the 1984 batlle scene boxart, David Schleinkofer.
Yet another brilliant show guys! The perfect podcast to listen to with your morning tea. Quick question since you guys were talking about masterpieces, do you guys think that after Takara is done churning out all of these G1 characters do you guys think they will start with post G1 (such as Beast wars, Armada, Cybertron etc)? I think Dinobot from Beast Wars is long due for a Masterpiece, since he one of the most memorable and well loved characters from this franchise.
I have to say guys this is got to be one of the bests podcast episodes you have yet to do, it was long,…. stop laughing Yoshi….. beefy and formative and just chock full of goodness I can’t wait to write a full review when I get home be on the lookout for it!!!

josh and ben did really good, but ben took over the floor in many ways, i thought he was very good at his craft (and yes c beast it does seems like its a dream job!) but i loved hearing him speak , he was VERY charismatic(i hope that is the right word i wish to use) …he reminded me a little of barr..i mean BIG C,but he seemed to know his way around this world we call “TRANSFANDOM”..
I always feel a little weird some people with the term “transfan”…some people think of something else when i use it and they look at me and say “are you a fan of…”
(and lets be clear here before i go on.. i don’t care up to a point (ex:impose your POV/will force ably, ect on others ect) what people do as long as it makes them happy in life,every one/person has different desires /wants in this world we live in)..
…but then ill give a look like im about to give the “megatron left arm (the fusion cannon is on the right, thats why) pimp slap to starscream” action because idiots in this world have the “A closed mind like a spare bed, its always made up because its never used” syndrome..

ben was awesome, next to aron archer, he was the most informative guest to date for me on the show, i hope he comes back soon to talk about a question i do have following ], or to give some insight on it.

can you /would you guys get together a list or collaborate with a another podcast etc of a sorts on how to fix/repair your tf collections, (and i don’t feel guilty because you guys have brought it up) like tfw 2005 talks time to time about it..
ex you can fix this with future floor polish, or the hot and cold water treatment,use a tooth pick for your deckals…i mean decals etc, i thinly this would be a huge help to fans out there to know more on what they can do to fix there collections,knowing all the trick and tips that would help.
thats it (yeah i know its small THIS WEEK) Im tired and i still have to go to work now, more to follow…
